The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Garrett Greene, 150 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Majors. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Germaine Pratt pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 17
In pick No. 25 they get a rangy last line of defense, and a steal at that.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 23
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to the 44th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 39
They will replay Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 26 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
Tyler Warren in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 40
Kaleb Johnson in pick 81 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 93
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in No. 148, and they pounced on premier safety value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 114
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at Round 5, Pick 31. It fills a real need, too.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Garrett Greene · QB · rank 320
They left a pile of value on the table to take Garrett Greene this early at slot 170. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 133
Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 173 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Jake Majors · C · rank 94
Circle this one: Jake Majors at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 283
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 228
A safety of that caliber at No. 247 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
