Thirty-one other rooms let Julian Pearl slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 13. Highway robbery.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

A tidy bit of business in the 33rd overall pick, where Graham Barton graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Junior Colson in pick No. 58, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Benson in No. 87 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javon Baker at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gabriel Murphy at slot 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nothing to complain about; Khyree Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
McKinnley Jackson in the 128th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Mason McCormick at pick 169 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kitan Oladapo in the 174th pick, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Cornelius Johnson all the way to pick No. 216, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
