The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kamal Hadden, Round 7, Pick 13, roughly 66 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They are betting Nourzad proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at the 32nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Braden Fiske in pick No. 56 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Braelon Allen at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Hunter Nourzad in slot 113 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had cheaper options than Ainias Smith at Round 4, Pick 28, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Tommy Eichenberg, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Myles Cole in the 174th overall pick, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Rasheen Ali in No. 216 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Kamal Hadden at the 233rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nathan Thomas at pick 244 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
