The Bills spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, the No. 51 name on the board, in pick No. 104. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Reaching for Elarms-Orr left real value on the table behind him. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Gabe Jacas at Round 2, Pick 2 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Christen Miller was the payoff at pick 65. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 104th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Deion Burks still on the board at the 126th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Malik Benson in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Will Lee III at slot 133. A minor itch, scratched.
A real head-scratcher, Kaleb Elarms-Orr in pick No. 143 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Red Murdock at No. 165, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zane Durant at pick No. 168 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
