The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ro Torrence, the No. 177 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Frazier. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Trey Benson at par in pick 87, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Gabriel Murphy in No. 89 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Somehow Andru Phillips was still sitting there in the 126th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Khristian Boyd at Round 5, Pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They let Jaylan Ford come to them and pounced at the 216th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ro Torrence at slot 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dominique Hampton slipping to the 244th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
