Some picks age like wine; Carson Steele at the 244th overall pick will need to, sitting 81 spots clear of his grade. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Jordan Morgan at par in slot 32, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zach Frazier in pick No. 59 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Payton Wilson in pick 64 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid up for Brenden Rice at No. 87 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Isaiah Davis in the 123rd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Khristian Boyd in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Dwight McGlothern at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Trevin Wallace at No. 216, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Evan Anderson at slot 233 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Carson Steele at Round 7, Pick 24, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
