The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Magee fell into the 223rd overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Whatever Michael Penix Jr. becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The Pritchett pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 26th pick they get a long-term answer under center, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Christian Haynes in slot 77 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Nehemiah Pritchett in pick No. 112 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick 148 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Anthony Gould at Round 6, Pick 33 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Magee at the 223rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Circle this one: Myles Harden at the 229th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
