· 6 picks
· 2 steals
· 1 reaches
The Patriots' one glaring miss is safety, a need they left exactly as they found it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Trapilo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. On value alone, Grant makes the weekend a net positive. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A quiet steal in the 38th overall pick: Kenneth Grant for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 4 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Zy Alexander in pick 69, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Jared Ivey went about where he belonged in pick No. 77. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Charles Grant worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
