The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Cedric Gray, 23 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Landing Brownlee Jr. that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Javon Baker in pick No. 90, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
