The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Isaac Guerendo, 25 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 24; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Isaac Guerendo at slot 104 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in the 125th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khristian Boyd in the 174th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
