The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 5 slot on Jaylan Ford a full 32 spots early.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. That Arnold pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 1, with Terrion Arnold worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Trey Benson at pick No. 56, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 65th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in No. 87, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaylan Ford in the 174th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Andrew Raym at slot 216 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Tyrice Knight at pick No. 233, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Daijahn Anthony in the 244th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
