Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Barton to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Jayden Daniels at slot 6 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Terrion Arnold, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Graham Barton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 70, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Renardo Green at the 87th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
MarShawn Lloyd in pick 96 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
They let Dominick Puni come to them and pounced at pick No. 103. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Luke McCaffrey was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Tahj Washington still on the board at No. 216. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Kendall Milton at the 233rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Nathaniel Watson in slot 244, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Garret Greenfield in Round 7, Pick 32 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
