The Cowboys lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
Carson Beck is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 10 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Tez Johnson at pick 62 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Hunter Wohler in Round 3, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaydn Ott at the 123rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 126 with a little surplus value in Dasan McCullough. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Thor Griffith went about where he belonged in the 158th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Justin Walley was the payoff at the Round 6 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bru McCoy at No. 187 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tristan Leigh at pick 190. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Van Dyke in No. 201, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Korey Foreman in slot 222; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
