The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Walker. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Tory Horton at the 62nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Danny Stutsman in Round 3, Pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Trevor Etienne at the 94th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Malik Spencer at pick No. 126, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Zach Rice in slot 158; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Khordae Sydnor at No. 190 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 222 with a little surplus value in Kyle McCord. A need, and now a little less of one.
