The Cowboys lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
They have staked the next five years on Quinn Ewers, which is the only story that really matters here. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Every board in the league had Marks lower, and that gap is the story. On value alone, Greene III makes the weekend a net positive.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 10 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Xavier Restrepo slipping to the 62nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Shilo Sanders in Round 3, Pick 10, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick No. 94 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Earnest Greene III all the way to the 126th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Marques Cox went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Jo'Quavious Marks at pick 190 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, Camar Wheaton a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
