Somebody took the Cowboys to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Ali that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 24 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at No. 87 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Isaac Guerendo went about where he belonged in slot 109. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 39, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Tyrice Knight in the 216th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cedric Johnson at slot 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tayvion Robinson in Round 7, Pick 24 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Rasheen Ali all the way to pick 251, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
