Somebody took the Cowboys to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D+.
Michael Penix Jr. is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Landing Washington that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kris Abrams-Draine at No. 76 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at the 122nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Isaiah Davis higher than the 173rd pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Tahj Washington all the way to slot 213, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in No. 231 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
KT Leveston in slot 242 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
