Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They have staked the next five years on J.J. McCarthy, which is the only story that really matters here. The McCarthy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The Johnson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
