Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Everything downstream of J.J. McCarthy depends on J.J. McCarthy, and the building knows it. The Newton steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Brock Bowers in Round 1, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
In slot 23 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Amarius Mims at No. 24 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value with a capital V on Chris Braswell in the 56th overall pick, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylen Wright at pick No. 87. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Josh Newton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Isaiah Williams at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Garret Greenfield, who had no business lasting to the 233rd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Frank Gore Jr. in pick 244 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
