Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left tight end open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
In pick No. 9 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and T.J. Tampa at slot 58 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javon Baker slipping to pick 103 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Thomas at the 174th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Circle this one: Ty'Ron Hopper at the 202nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in No. 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Garret Greenfield in Round 7, Pick 13, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 244, where Trevin Wallace graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
