Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Carson Beck is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They are betting Burch proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a workhorse for the backfield at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Barion Brown in pick 58, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Hancock at pick No. 67 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had T.J. Sanders higher than No. 90, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a quarterback like Jaxson Dart reach the 122nd overall pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
