Call it larceny. Jahdae Barron sat on the board until slot 120, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
Griffith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Whatever Shedeur Sanders becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will answer for taking safety early while cornerback and tight end went begging.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In the 8th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
In pick 19 they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They will replay Xavier Restrepo at pick No. 42 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach the 51st overall pick and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Derrick Harmon in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nic Scourton in Round 3, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jahdae Barron at safety with cornerback and tight end open.
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at slot 149 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Clay Webb at pick 169 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 170 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Parker Brailsford was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
