This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 147 name on the board, stolen at the 174th pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If Anderson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and the 35th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 56 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trey Benson at No. 66 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Braden Fiske at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jalen McMillan at the 104th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Beaux Limmer in the 124th pick, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaylin Simpson in slot 174 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Neyor. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Evan Anderson at pick 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
