Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chargers shredded theirs for Dylan McMahon. He came off 40 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Smith. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze at Round 1, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at the 37th pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mike Sainristil slid further than he should have, and slot 69 is lovely value for the cornerback. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Blake Corum went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Justin Eboigbe in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tykee Smith at No. 181 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A big swing on Dylan McMahon at pick No. 253, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
