Whoever sat across the table from the Bills should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
If Barham pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Golday steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The James Pearce Jr. deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Caleb Banks, who had no business lasting to pick No. 57. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jake Golday was still sitting there in the 79th pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malachi Fields slid further than he should have, and slot 89 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaishawn Barham in the Round 3 slot, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Beau Stephens well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Louis Moore went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Aamil Wagner in No. 168 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zavion Thomas at Round 7, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Andre Fuller in the Round 7 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They jumped the gun on Nick Barrett, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
