Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cowboys came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in the 34th pick with a little surplus value in Jackson Powers-Johnson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Payton Wilson in pick 56 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Lynn Polk at Round 3, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Christian Mahogany in the 92nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
