Start where it matters. The Giants took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The Hall reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in Round 2, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Haynes in No. 70 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Josh Newton in the 89th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
The board had Tykee Smith higher than pick No. 108, and the safety fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Daijun Edwards at pick 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach for Drake Nugent in slot 140; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Gabe Hall in the 185th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
