Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chargers shredded theirs for Nadame Tucker. He came off 47 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Getting Taaffe where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 55 with a little surplus value in D'Angelo Ponds. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dontay Corleone at the 74th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Taaffe at slot 86 is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nadame Tucker this early at pick 123. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Keyshaun Elliott at No. 176 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jadon Canady at the 204th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
