They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: David Ugwoegbu, 87 picks early at the 244th pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The McGlothern steal is the beam this whole class leans on. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper Beebe in the 56th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A clean, defensible pick in the 73rd pick with a little surplus value in Patrick Paul. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in No. 87, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in pick 174: Dwight McGlothern for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Magee in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Watson at slot 233 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, David Ugwoegbu well ahead of where he belonged. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
