Call it belief, call it a gut call, but J.Michael Sturdivant at slot 150 is 65 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Henderson. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Mason Graham in No. 13, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
In pick 15 they get a centerfielder for the defense. More want than need.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 37, where Tre Harris graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Omarion Hampton in the 44th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
James Pearce Jr. in the 47th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jihaad Campbell at pick 72 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Kalel Mullings was still sitting there in slot 78, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Smael Mondon Jr. in Round 3, Pick 15 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Andrew Mukuba in the Round 3 slot. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They will replay Jake Majors at pick No. 109 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Mansoor Delane in No. 116 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
TreVeyon Henderson at the 143rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, J.Michael Sturdivant well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Gunnar Helm, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Cody Simon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kyle McCord in pick 171 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Raheim Sanders at the 190th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Julian Fleming at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
