After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
That Jones pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Patrick Paul in the 36th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 40 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Morgan at pick No. 49 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Ja'Tavion Sanders in Round 2, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Dylan Laube in the 139th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Roger Rosengarten in slot 182 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Zakhari Franklin at par in pick 224, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Jones reach No. 232 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
