The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The cost of the Tupuola-Fetui reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That Liufau pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
A slide stopped in pick 34, with Amarius Mims worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Ja'Lynn Polk at the 68th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Ben Sinnott at pick No. 104, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Kitan Oladapo in No. 122 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 136th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Marist Liufau was still sitting there in slot 182, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Daijun Edwards in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
