Call it larceny. Trevor Keegan sat on the board until pick 233, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
Nice patience on T'Vondre Sweat, who had no business lasting to pick 56. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
Value with a capital V on Junior Colson in slot 65, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
The board fumbled Cooper Beebe all the way to pick No. 87, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.6 · Pick 142 · Renardo Green · S · rank 78
Renardo Green in Round 5, Pick 6 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 187
Cornelius Johnson in No. 174 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · M.J. Devonshire · CB · rank 192
Steal is underselling it; M.J. Devonshire at the 216th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 144
Trevor Keegan at the 233rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 223
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Trey Knox worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Tayvion Robinson · WR · rank 232
Tayvion Robinson slid further than he should have, and the 244th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
