The real work happened on the phones. The Cowboys fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
Hopper falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Allen reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Budda Baker gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 56th overall pick with a little surplus value in Kiran Amegadjie. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zak Zinter in the 87th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 24, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 174 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Marcus Harris in slot 212 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
DeMonte Capehart in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
