Thirty-one other rooms let Jaylin Simpson slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at No. 202. Highway robbery. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Trey Hendrickson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Junior Colson at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Jaden Hicks in slot 58, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at pick 88 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Bucky Irving at No. 126 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, AJ Barner in the 169th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylin Simpson in Round 6, Pick 27 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on KT Leveston in the 219th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bub Means at pick No. 245. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Michael Barrett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
