Somebody in No. 120 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Ja'Kobi Lane, the No. 98 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Muhammad to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Malik Muhammad at pick 84 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Nicholas Singleton at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ja'Kobi Lane at No. 120 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Charles Demmings come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 20. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bobby Jamison-Travis at slot 201 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Josh Cuevas in the 236th pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick No. 246, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Jalon Daniels in slot 255, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
