Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The Robert Spillane pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

In the 13th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. Need was not the driver here.
In slot 24 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 25 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Keon Coleman in pick No. 44 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trey Benson at the 87th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Cornelius Johnson at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
