The phones were a trap the Texans kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Everette where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Hit on Kenyon Sadiq and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Peter Woods was the payoff at the 38th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Gennings Dunker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jake Slaughter in the 69th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Germie Bernard at Round 3, Pick 15 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Daylen Everette in pick 103 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Dametrious Crownover at the 141st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
