You could see the war room lean forward. Garret Greenfield at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If Jibunor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Jordan Morgan in No. 41, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Adisa Isaac went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked Johnny Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 113. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in the 158th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fabien Lovett at slot 184 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Johnny Dixon in the 228th pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Richard Jibunor in pick 241, miles early. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
They will replay Garret Greenfield at the 255th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
