Boards are made to be trusted, and the Dolphins shredded theirs for Isaiah Williams. He came off 22 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hopper.
Adding Dax Hill by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 49 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Kingsley Suamataia went about where he belonged in the 55th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in No. 97, where Dadrion Taylor-Demerson graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Isaiah Williams in the 158th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Jefferson at slot 184 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Ty'Ron Hopper higher than Round 6, Pick 23, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for C.J. Hanson at pick No. 241, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
