The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cornelius Johnson fell into pick No. 233.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If Harrell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper Beebe in pick 41 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edgerrin Cooper in the 56th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Braelon Allen at the 100th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Jaylen Harrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Caedan Wallace in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Kalen DeLoach in No. 216, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in pick No. 233, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trevin Wallace is a better player than slot 244 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
