You build a draft on nights like this. Nicholas Singleton had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Tate Ratledge in slot 38 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Charles Grant at pick 77 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach pick No. 105 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Barrett Carter at the 143rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
