They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. If Suamataia pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
In pick 21 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kingsley Suamataia this early at the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 67th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach for Dominick Puni in slot 78; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dallin Holker at the 139th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 16 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tahj Washington at pick No. 222 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
