The tape said wait; the Lions did not. Logan Fano went at pick 205, a good 52 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Scott pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Terence Steele deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid a round early for Sonny Styles in slot 12, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Caleb Tiernan in the 60th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Keionte Scott at No. 89 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had cheaper options than Gracen Halton at pick 112, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in the 181st pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Fano in pick 205, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dallen Bentley in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
