Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 195 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 244. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a problem off the edge. More want than need.
Amarius Mims at No. 56 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Will Shipley at the 108th pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Mekhi Wingo at slot 121 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nehemiah Pritchett slid further than he should have, and pick No. 157 is lovely value for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Luke McCaffrey at Round 5, Pick 38 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kamal Hadden in pick 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A running back of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint all the way to the 244th overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
