Start where it matters. The Vikings took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Paul. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
If Drake Maye and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Patrick Paul at the 108th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Josh Newton is a better player than pick 137 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 157, where Nehemiah Pritchett graded well above the range. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Sione Vaki in slot 167 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Tyrone Tracy Jr. was still sitting there in the 177th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kendall Milton at Round 7, Pick 10 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Garret Greenfield was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
