The Eagles ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Rakestraw Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.
Rouse has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jared Verse and all.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Verse at the Round 1 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 54th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 55 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in pick 71, where Jonathon Brooks graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Roman Wilson was the payoff at slot 97. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a linebacker like Tyrice Knight reach pick No. 137 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A slide stopped in pick 163, with Jaylin Simpson worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Braelon Allen in Round 5, Pick 36 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking LaDarius Henderson in slot 183 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach for Walter Rouse in the 243rd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
