Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Commanders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Adding Justin Fields by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
However the rest shakes out, Oladapo at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 40th pick with a little surplus value in Chop Robinson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Goncalves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in pick 103; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dylan Laube at the 138th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at slot 181 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Omar Speights went about where he belonged in pick No. 220. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
