Whoever sat across the table from the Dolphins should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Devonshire. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Reaching for Robinson left real value on the table behind him.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan Morgan at the 47th pick. It fills a real need, too.
They took Braden Fiske at par in pick 55, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in the 125th overall pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Layden Robinson in pick No. 158, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Malik Mustapha was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 9. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Justin Rogers in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking M.J. Devonshire in pick 220 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Trey Knox still on the board at the 241st overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
