You could see the war room lean forward. Tahj Washington at the 225th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Corum has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. is a better player than pick No. 37 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Blake Corum well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in pick 65. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Khyree Jackson slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 5 is lovely value for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Leonard Taylor III in slot 110 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Trevor Keegan in the 140th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Jared Wiley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Tahj Washington was still sitting there in pick 225, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Kalen DeLoach in the Round 7 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
